George
Jung is an entrepreneur and innovator with over 30 years of experience in
software engineering, business leadership, and professional engineering
(P.Eng.). His career activities spans project management, business operations, software
engineering, and software life-cycle management across diverse sectors such as
telecommunications, information technology, financial services, automotive,
retail, healthcare, and energy.
George's expertise lies in leveraging innovative cloud-based
technologies and SaaS (Software as a Service) business models to enhance
business profitability and generate new revenue streams. He excels in
identifying customer pain points and crafting tailored solutions to alleviate
them. His approach has consistently led to the development of numerous first-to-market
business applications, reflecting his commitment to innovation and excellence.
George is known for his ability to lead and manage diverse
vendor and client cross-functional teams, and has a proven track record of
delivering large scale, complex projects on schedule, within budget, and with
exceptional quality. His innovative leadership and technical expertise have
been pivotal in consistently driving for high expectations.
A former founding partner at VenueVision, George played a
pivotal role as the systems architect for VenueVision’s real time digital
information technology platform. In this capacity, he was responsible for
overseeing the design, engineering, network operations, and ongoing research
and development. His vision and leadership were instrumental in establishing
VenueVision as a leader in its field, known for offering cutting-edge solutions
that effectively integrate technology with business and customer service needs. Major clients using this system include Honda Canada, Mercedes-Benz Canada, independent dealerships, NHL Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, and MLB Seattle Mariners, and Municipal Recreation Centres in South Ontario.
Prior
to his role at VenueVision, George operated a successful consulting practice,
specializing in software solutions for retail point of sale networks and a medical
insurance payment gateway for Shoppers Drug Mart. Other clients include Toronto Star, Laura Secord and Nortel Networks. His work in this area
demonstrated his versatility, innovative approaches, problem-solver and
forward-thinker in technology solutions.
George also had a significant tenure at Nortel
Networks, a leader in the telecommunications sector. At Nortel's Digital
Switching Division, he was a key contributor in the creation of the division's
first Software Delivery Process, a groundbreaking initiative at the time. His
primary responsibility involved architecting an innovative Software Delivery
Pipeline Process, which was flexible to meet customer-specific requirements.
This process, a precursor to what would later be recognized in the software industry as "DevOps for the
Cloud", was successfully implemented across Nortel’s global Software Production
facilities. It marked a significant achievement, showcasing its effectiveness
and scalability in revolutionizing software delivery practices while creating a cultural change within the
organization of eliminating silos.
